Photo of the Week: July 15th, Delphi, Greece

Jul 15, 2011 4 Comments by

I was a Classical Archaeology & Drama major in college and my junior year I was lucky enough to embark on three different study abroad excursions, one of which took me to Delphi, Greece. Delphi is best known for its temple to Apollo and the oracles that resided there, but there are also several mysteries left in Delphi, this structure being of them. It has been named the Athena Proaia but its purpose is a hot debate among scholars. This little unexplained series of columns on the cliffside of Greece helped me realize what exactly I loved most about studying the history of human culture: so much of it is a beautiful mystery.

I lived in Crete for three weeks and it was gorgeous. I sadly haven’t made it to many of the other islands… yet. ;)
